How do you know if it’s time to leave your job and become a full-time entrepreneur?
So, most coaches or strategists or “gurus” will tell you to “take a leap of faith” or “go with your gut” or “trust your intuition.”
I happen to think that sucks!
When I first made the decision to start a business, I didn’t think twice… I quit my day job and went all in.
And let’s just say it wasn’t my best move!
I learned the hard way there’s a lot more to becoming a full-time entrepreneur than just quitting your day job.
The truth is that way too many people say sayonara to their 9-to-5 long before they’re ready to go out on their own.
Back when I was working at the World Paper in Boston, my editor shot me an unexpected question:
“Marisa… are you having fun writing this?”
And while I had all kinds of goals and a LOT of drive and I was willing to do whatever it took to be a serious journalist, I realized I was having ZERO fun!
And it showed in my writing.
My copy was technically flawless but it didn’t do much else.
It fell flat. It lacked emotion.
The truth is powerful, memorable writing makes you feel something and the secret ingredient behind great writing is emotion.
If you want to connect with your audience and inspire them to take action — to like, to share, to comment, to buy — you need to know how to infuse emotion into your words.
