“The Great Disruption”: How AI Is Devouring Jobs & Destroying Small Businesses While Creating the Greatest Opportunity of Our Lifetime

In 1769, a man named Josiah Wedgwood stood in his pottery workshop in country Ireland and watched his world end…

For 3,000 years, pottery had been made the same way. 

Human hands on clay. 

Master craftsmen spending decades perfecting their art. 

Each piece unique, imperfect, unmistakably human.

But outside his workshop, far from his little town, machines were humming.

Wedgwood looked around at his fellow potters -- proud, skilled, terrified men & women watching their life’s work become obsolete overnight.

And then he did something radical.

He stopped trying to compete with the machines and instead, he asked a different question: “What do people need now that efficiency has taken over?”

His answer changed the world.

While other potters were desperately trying to make better dishes than machines could, Wedgwood created something machines couldn’t touch.

He built the first retail showroom -- transforming shopping from a transaction into theater. 

He invented the money-back guarantee, creating trust in an age of uncertainty. 

He didn’t just make pottery, he created “Queen’s Ware” -- selling status, beauty and belonging.

While craftsmen sold things, Wedgwood sold feelings.

The result? While his competitors went bankrupt fighting technology, Wedgwood built an empire that’s lasted to this very day.

What he witnessed was the beginning of what we now call the Industrial Revolution.

And for the next 250 years, machines slowly and steadily replaced and optimized everything that was possible to replace and optimize. 

It turned craftsmen into assembly line workers, farmers into office employees and storytellers into content creators.

The Industrial Revolution took the beautiful, messy, unpredictable reality of human work… and mechanized it.

Now, 250 years later, we’re living through the very same story at 50X the speed.

The “AI Apocalypse”

The World Economic Forum just estimated that 300 million full-time jobs globally will be eliminated by AI in the next 5 years.

But jobs aren’t the only casualty.

Pine and Gilmore predicted this shift in “The Experience Economy,” arguing that experiences would become the primary source of economic value. 

They were right, but they underestimated the speed. AI hasn’t just accelerated this shift, it’s made it mandatory.

When AI handles products and services with perfect efficiency, the only value left to create is experiential. The only currency that matters is transformation. The only differentiator is how you make people feel.

I’ve spent the last decade proving this. 

I’ve generated almost $55 million by focusing on experience over efficiency, while achieving customer engagement rates 10-30x industry standards. Not through better features or lower prices, but through designing moments that matter.
