There’s a question I’ve been hearing more and more lately…
“With AI getting so good, is there even room for me anymore?”
I get it. When ChatGPT can write a blog post in 30 seconds, when AI can generate course content overnight and when everyone seems to have access to the same tools -- it’s natural to wonder if the window for building a successful online business is closing.
But here’s what I want you to really hear: The rise of AI isn’t shrinking your opportunity. It’s actually making what YOU offer more valuable than ever.
Let me explain.
The Great AI Flood
Right now, the internet is being flooded with AI-generated content. Blog posts, social media captions, email sequences, even entire courses -- all created by AI in minutes.
And here’s the thing… most of it sounds exactly the same.
It’s polished. It’s grammatically correct. It hits all the “best practice” points. But it’s also generic, forgettable and completely interchangeable with thousands of other pieces of content saying the exact same things.
When everyone has access to the same AI tools, the output starts to blur together. It’s like a sea of beige -- technically fine but nothing that makes you stop scrolling.
This is actually great news for you.Because while AI can generate information, it cannot generate you.

What AI Actually Can’t Do
Let’s get specific about what AI is genuinely incapable of -- because understanding this is the key to building a business that’s impossible to replicate.
AI can’t live your life.
Every challenge you’ve overcome, every mistake you’ve made, every hard-won lesson you’ve learned -- that’s yours. AI can write about overcoming challenges in generic terms. But it can’t tell the story of the time you launched a course to crickets, cried in your car and then figured out what went wrong. It can’t share what it felt like to get your first $10,000 month after years of struggle.
Your lived experience is an asset that appreciates in value every single day. And no AI can access it.
AI can’t build real relationships.
People don’t buy from businesses. They buy from people they know, like and trust. AI can mimic warmth. It can be programmed to sound friendly. But it can’t actually care about your students’ success. It can’t notice when someone’s been quiet in the community and reach out to check on them. It can’t celebrate your wins like a real mentor who’s genuinely invested in your growth.
At Live Your Message, we’ve had students who were stuck and disengaged suddenly break through -- not because of better content but because someone on our team noticed they’d gone quiet and sent a simple email. One of those students went on to make $100,000 from her course and then an additional $150,000. That kind of result doesn’t come from information. It comes from human connection.
AI can’t create transformation.
I can’t stress this point enough.
AI is exceptional at generating information. It can compile, organize and present knowledge better than any human. But information alone doesn’t change lives.
Think about it -- how many books have you read that should have transformed your business but didn’t? How many courses have you purchased that are still sitting unopened? The problem was never a lack of information. The problem was a lack of experience -- the kind that actually gets you into action.

The Experience Advantage
Back in 2012, I launched my first big course. It was packed with content -- six courses crammed into one six-week program. I thought more information meant more value.
I was wrong.
Refund rates were high. And when I dug deeper, I discovered that only around 5% of my students were actually completing the course. The rest? Overwhelmed, frustrated and dropping out.
That painful lesson taught me something AI will never understand: More information isn’t the answer. What matters is how you engage your students and get them to take action.
That’s when I shifted from creating “info products” to creating what I now call Experience Products -- courses designed around specific experiences that inspire consistent action and drive real results.
The difference? Experience Products don’t just deliver knowledge. They create:
Shared Experiences -- People crave connection and community. When your students learn alongside others, support each other and celebrate wins together, they stay engaged. AI can’t facilitate genuine community.
Perceived Customization -- Your students want to feel like your course was designed just for them. Not because you created a custom version for each person but because you designed the experience to feel personal and relevant. AI generates one-size-fits-all content. Humans design experiences that feel tailored.
Constant Wins -- Instead of saving all the rewards for the end, the best courses create small victories throughout the journey. These micro-wins build confidence and momentum. AI doesn’t understand the psychology of motivation the way a human creator does.
Emotional Experiences -- Transformation happens when people feel something. Storytelling, vulnerability, pattern interrupts, celebration -- these are human elements that create lasting change.
This is exactly why AI-generated courses are struggling with high refund rates and abysmal completion numbers. They can deliver information. They can’t deliver transformation.
Your Unfair Advantage
So what does this mean for you?
It means the path forward isn’t to compete with AI on information. That’s a race to the bottom. Instead, your job is to lean harder into everything that makes you human.
Your unique combination of skills, experiences and perspective? That’s your unfair advantage.
The specific way you explain things that just “clicks” for your audience? AI can’t replicate that.
The stories only you can tell? The hard-won wisdom only you possess? The relationships only you can build?
That’s your moat. That’s what makes your business impossible to copy.

How to Build an AI-Proof Business
Here’s the practical application of all this:
1. Go deeper into your micro-niche.
In a world of AI-generated generic content, specificity wins. The more precisely you can define who you serve and the specific transformation you provide, the harder you are to replicate.
I always say you need to go “an inch wide and a mile deep.” When you’re the person who helps accounting professionals expand their practice into the US legal cannabis industry (like one of our students, Naomi), no AI-generated content can compete with your depth of expertise and lived experience.
2. Lead with your stories.
AI can write about challenges and transformations. But it can’t share your story -- the embarrassing failure that taught you everything, the unexpected breakthrough that changed your trajectory, or the moment you almost quit but didn’t.
Your stories are your most valuable content. Use them generously.
3. Build real community.
AI can create content at scale. But it can’t create belonging. Invest in building genuine community around your work -- spaces where people connect with each other, not just with your content.
The relationships your students build with each other become part of the value you provide. And that’s something no AI can touch.
4. Focus on transformation, not information.
Before you create any piece of content -- a course, a blog post, an email -- ask yourself: “What do I want someone to do as a result of this?”
If the answer is just “learn something,” you’re competing with AI. If the answer is “take a specific action that moves them toward their goal,” you’re playing a different game entirely.
5. Show up as yourself.
This might sound obvious, but most entrepreneurs get this part wrong. In an attempt to sound “professional” or “polished,” they strip out everything that makes them interesting.
Your quirks, your opinions, your willingness to be vulnerable -- that’s what makes people want to follow you instead of just consuming generic content.
The Real Opportunity
Here’s what I want you to take away from this:
AI isn’t your competition. It’s a tool -- one that can actually free you up to do more of what only you can do.
Let AI handle the first draft, the brainstorming, the outline. Then infuse it with your voice, your stories and your perspective. Use AI to work faster so you can spend more time on the human elements that actually build businesses -- connecting with your audience, supporting your students and creating experiences that transform lives.
The entrepreneurs who will thrive in 2026 and beyond aren’t the ones who figure out how to use AI to replace themselves. They’re the ones who figure out how to use AI to amplify themselves while leaning harder into everything that makes them irreplaceable.
Your lived experience. Your authentic voice. Your ability to create real transformation.
That’s what AI can’t do. And that’s exactly what your audience is hungry for.
So stop worrying about competing with AI. Start building the business that only you can build.
