My Anti-Cyber Monday Message

By Marisa Murgatroyd

I get it. Your inbox is being flooded right now with Cyber Monday offers and it can feel a little… overwhelming.

I have nothing to sell but this simple message: You are the most valuable asset in the world.

You’re more valuable than stocks.

You’re more valuable than gold.

You’re more valuable than real estate….

And you’re definitely more valuable than any stuff you can buy today.

So here’s a little video message from me to you. It takes 3 minutes to watch.

HERE ARE THE VIDEO TRANSCRIPTS IN CASE YOU LIKE TO READ ‘EM

After Thanksgiving, something happens: the whole country goes into this shopping frenzy. You’ve got Black Friday, then you’ve got Cyber Monday. Black Friday all the stores sell all their stuff at a discount. Cyber Monday, the Internet opens up and sells all their stuff at a discount.

So I want to give you the Anti-Cyber Monday message right now because here’s the thing. When you spend your money on stuff, when you spend your money on possessions, that doesn’t get you anywhere in life. It buys you that momentary hit of happiness, that dopamine rush of buying something. Then when you get home, it’s gone.

But when I’ve spent my money on investing in myself, every single time without fail I get at least double the return on my investment. I get five times return on investment. 10 times return on investment. Because I’m investing in expanding my capacity. I’m investing in expanding my capacity to do, to be, to feel, to have, to achieve.

And here’s the thing that you need to internalize: You are your most valuable investment.

You are the most valuable investment in the world.

You’re more valuable than stocks, than gold, than real estate. When you invest in any of that stuff, you’re lucky if you’re getting a 5-10% ROI. But when you invest in yourself, the sky’s the limit. Because you can double your ROI, you can 10x your ROI when you learn how to do more. When you expand your capacity to achieve, to earn, whatever that happens to be.

So during this holiday season, what are you going to invest in? How are you going to invest your time, your energy, your attention, your money?

Are you going to invest in stuff or are you going to invest in yourself? Who you are and who you are becoming? Your potential for impact in the world? Your potential to change the world?

So this holiday season when everyone’s shopping and buying all kinds of stuff they do not need — for themselves, for other people — how can you invest in yourself?

How can you invest in the life that you want?

How can you invest in your future?

How can you invest in your business?

How can you invest in who you are becoming?

How can you invest in that vision and message that you have for the world?

Because I promise you, when you invest in yourself, the sky’s the limit of what you can achieve.

But when you invest in stuff and possessions — not happening.

So what are the experiences that you want to invest in?

Who do you want to become?

What are the essential skills that you need to learn to make your vision in the world real? Not just a vision, a figment of your imagination, but real.

How do you want to focus your time, your energy, your attention, your money, your resources?

Who is it that you want to become?

And what is that message that you’ve got?

So that’s my Anti Cyber Monday message for you: Remember you are the most valuable resource in the world.

You are the most valuable investment that you can possibly make and the only way to achieve the life that you desire, to create it, to have that impact, is to invest in yourself and to really think about how do you want to spend that time, energy, attention, the life resources and the life energy that you have, how do you want to spend that?

Once you spend that, you can’t get that back. But when you invest it, who you can become? Oh my God, now that’s a sight to behold.

Go out there and Live Your Message. Bye.
