If you’re reading this, you probably have a drive to become an online entrepreneur, and my guess is that there may have been times in your life when you felt like you didn’t belong. Or that were just a little bit different from those around you.
Most entrepreneurs are wired that way — a little “differently.” We can see things other people can’t see.
Many people think that entrepreneurship is a lonely journey. It’s not so. In fact, no matter who you are or how big your email list (or whether you have one), you already have a tribe. Don’t believe me? Think about it: just through you being you, you’ve attracted the friends you have, the clients you have… and just about all the people in your life.
Your tribe.
I believe that when you turn up the dial on the true “you”, you attract the people who resonate with how you’re being, people who resonate with your values and beliefs, you’ll become the superhero to your tribe that you’ll never be lonely again. You’ll be creating the relationships (whether in person, virtual or both) that you’ve always wanted in your life… the friends you’ve always wanted.
And the tribe you have (and will have) all begins with how you’re showing up in your business.
What do I mean by that? Think of it this way..
People will tell you what they want. We humans (by definition) have an unending list of hopes, wishes, dreams and desires. And the reason that these things rarely come to pass lies in the fact that we don’t always pay attention to aligning how we act and what we say with those hopes, wishes, dreams and desires.
In other words, we don’t really think about and define how we’re willing to be or what we’re willing to do in order to make them real.
As T. Harv Eker famously said, “how you do anything is how you do everything”. I used to have that quote on the monitor of my laptop so any time I used my computer, any time I created anything, I would see it there…
“How you do anything is how you do everything.”
It was almost as if that sticker was talking to me — “Hey Marisa, how are you showing up today… how are you showing up in this task you’re doing right now?” And that sticker reminded me to show up here and now in the right way, no matter what was going on…
It’s so easy to hinge your state of mind and your state of being on something that you want that you don’t quite have yet.
– To say that: Once I’m successful, once I have proof that this is going to work, then I’ll fully commit to my business.
– Or to say that: Once I’m crystal clear about my message, then I’ll start talking to people.
– Or, once I know exactly what to do every minute of every day, then I’ll take action.
And until then? I’ll just kind of hang out, wait and see what happens, but first I need a sign from the universe that I’m on the right track.
So you’ve got one foot in and one foot out and nothing’s really happening the way that you want it to happen and that just serves to reinforce that maybe just maybe this isn’t such a good idea after all…
I don’t know… I just don’t know if this is going to work… I don’t know if I should go all in.
If you’ve ever done that before, you’re not alone. It’s the human condition to have one foot on the gas pedal on one foot on the brake.
Let me ask an important question.
What would happen if you practiced being all in? If you practiced showing up fully and authentically when you talk about your business? What kind of tribe would you attract then?
What if you proclaimed right here right now that no matter what’s going on in your business, what’s going on in your life, what’s going on in the world, you’re going to play full out.
And what if — just what if — while you were waiting for a sign from the universe; it was waiting for a sign from you. A sign that you’re all in and fully committed? That you’re willing to take action — even when you’re not crystal clear — because you know that the more action you take the clearer you become and the easier it will get…
What if it’s actually your commitment and how you show up that creates the life and business you want?
You don’t need to be someone you’re not to build that business, but you may need to turn up the dial on your current level of expression. Turn up the dial on your commitment. Turn up the dial on your presence… so you can be seen and heard, so you can be the superhero to your tribe.
So let me give you a little exercise called, “How do you want to show up in your business?”
Here’s a list of words that describe your energy, your presence and the way you impact other people. Choose 3-5 words that represent how you want to show up in your business, knowing that you attract your tribe by who you’re being (as much as what you’re saying and what you’re doing).
Feel free to add words that aren’t on the list… these words are meant to get you started, not to limit you.
Take 3 minutes to choose 3-5 words from the list below or 3-5 words that are meaningful to you.
- One process I like to use is to go through and tick all that apply, then whittle down your list to the top 3-5 words for you
- I recommend choosing words that represent the best of who you are as well as words that define you and show your multi-dimensionality. Perhaps you’re direct or challenging or aggressive or melancholy.
- People aren’t looking for the Barbie & Ken version of what you do, they’re looking for real people and it’s the idiosyncrasies and so-called “character flaws” that often make people lovable.
- Also make sure to choose words that you can stand in. Words that really represent who you are, not just to yourself, but to others.
- If you’re shy and introverted, you may not want to choose a word like “bold”. People will love you when you embrace your shy, introverted nature.

In the past I had told myself that I no longer needed to learn English. Big mistake! Today I realize that this should be my starting point. I love respect for values and strategy. I believe that we must learn daily to plan. It is impossible to do everything alone. Thank you again!
