5 Signs It’s Time to Build Your Dream Team and Scale Your Business

Running your own business often feels like juggling a million hats at once — CEO, marketer, admin, content creator and everything in between. Sound familiar? Trust me, you’re not alone.

I remember the early days of Live Your Message when I was doing everything myself — every email, every blog post, every customer support reply. But here’s the hard truth: if you want to grow your business beyond where you are right now, you can’t do it alone. At some point, it becomes critical to take a leap of faith and start building a team.

In this post, I’ll share:

  • 5 signs it’s time to hire help.
  • Why customer experience matters more than ever.
  • How to shift from working in your business to working on your business.

And if you’re ready to unlock a whole new level of growth, stick around — I’ve got a special opportunity to help you break through your next ceiling.

Sign 1: You’re Stuck in Low-Value Tasks

If your day is packed with tasks like answering emails, updating your website or handling customer inquiries, it’s time to ask yourself: Is this the best use of my time?

I used to spend hours writing blog posts for Live Your Message. While I love writing, it was pulling me away from high-value tasks like developing new programs and nurturing partnerships. Once I hired a team to help, I had more time to focus on what truly drives growth.

Ask yourself: what are the tasks that only YOU can do? Everything else? That’s what your team should handle.

Sign 2: You’re Turning Away Clients

A full schedule is a great problem to have… until it isn’t.

When you’re maxed out, you’re forced to turn away opportunities — clients who want to work with you but hear, “Maybe in a few months.” Each time that happens, you risk losing not just a sale but a loyal customer.

I recently held a High Ticket Experience in Lake Como, Italy for a small group of high-level entrepreneurs…

A group of eleven people stands on a ferry with mountains and a lake in the background. They are smiling and waving at the camera, dressed casually. The scene is cheerful and relaxed under a cloudy sky.

It was centered around guiding them in creating their high-ticket offer so they can make more money than they’ve ever made before…. while serving people in a deeper way than ever before…

Now, if I didn’t have a team behind me — there’s NO WAY I could have made it happen how I wanted to.

There was just so much logistical planning, support and design. If I had had to focus on all of that, I wouldn’t have been able to create and deliver the program I wanted to!

I even flew in one of my BEST coaches, Coach Debra, who’s been with me for a long time to help me support our participants 🙂

All that support made the event a HUGE success… so much so that I’m going to do it again!

Sign 3: You’re Doing Tasks You’re Not Good At

Let’s get real for a second: there are things you’re amazing at, and then there are things you just… aren’t.

For me, it was systems and processes. I’m a creative at heart, and I thrive on big ideas, not detailed workflows. Once I hired someone who excelled in this area, everything in our business ran smoother.

What’s your Achilles’ heel? Instead of trying to force it, hire someone who can do it better, faster and with a smile on their face.

Sign 4: You’re Always Working In Your Business, Not On It

This is one of the biggest mistakes entrepreneurs make. They stay so busy handling the day-to-day that they don’t have time to focus on strategy, growth or innovation.

Michael Gerber talks about this in The E-Myth Revisited.

He shares the story of a baker who’s so busy making pastries that she can’t think about growing her business. Sound familiar?

To scale, you have to step out of the daily grind and focus on the big picture. Your team should free you to think strategically — not micromanage the details.

Sign 5: You Feel Like You Can’t Afford It

Here’s a counterintuitive truth: if you feel like you can’t afford to hire help, it’s probably the exact moment you need to.

Why? Wearing all the hats in your business costs you time, energy and revenue. When you’re stuck doing low-value tasks, you’re capping your income potential. Hiring help is an investment in your business — and in yourself.
